Step to the Wire, Laura's third album, was released in 2005. The album's title comes from the hard-hitting ballad, "Blind Trinity," a searing indictment of the Bush Administration's foreign policy. The songs on this album were written over a period of a year and a half, during most of which Laura's boyfriend served in Iraq with the Army National Guard. Much of the album focuses on the plight of military families, the flaws in American war policy, and the searing trauma of having a loved one overseas. Mixed in with these probing tunes is Laura's unique brand of musical humor, in songs such as "Hey Boy" and "Nutha Man." The album rocks with an audio-shock of emotional truth.
